Hey Friends,
We are very excited to bring you today's episode. We were able to sit down with the director of the incredible Netflix documentary Seaspiracy, Ali Tabrizi. This podcast was not only amazing because of all the knowledge Ali brings to the table, but it was also recorded live with an audience as part of the Planted Expo weekend. We were thrilled to cap off an incredible weekend with this intimate dinner and conversation held at Vancouver's Nightshade restaurant.
If you have yet to see it, Seaspiracy was the breakout movie of 2021, it was viewed by people all over the world launching Seaspiracy to the top of Neflix's watch list. Through the film Ali tells a compelling story of how the peril of facing our oceans and the life within it is something that directly affects us. From the largest sea creatures to the phytoplankton, the balance and health of our oceans is something we must be aware of, and be actively working to protect.
As a talented film maker, and storyteller Ali presents an honest look and hopeful vision for how we can all learn about, support, create lasting change, and help our oceans, and therefore ourselves. This conversation covers many of the questions we wanted to explore with Ali as a follow up to Seaspiracy, as well as an exposé on government subsidies, and how the Fishery system is corrupt and completely unsustainable. We were so grateful to Ali as well as the planted expo team, and the incredible crew at Nightshade for making an unforgettable evening.
We hope you enjoy this one,
Z&D
